CLAYCODE – Vases

CLAYCODE is born from the collaboration between Alessandro Zomparelli (computational designer) and Bruno Demasi (digital ceramist). This is collection of vases represents the first series of products designed to explore the opportunities of clay 3d printing together with the use of open-source tools.

3D-printed clay is generally characterized by thick layers, this feature, combined with the plasticity of the material allows to explore a wide range of possible surface articulations by deviating the printing path from its usual position. The lack of support produces anomalies in the deposition of the material. Those anomalies, when controlled, can be use patterns becoming an expressive feature.
